Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) & Lymphedema Management (LE)
Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a type of bodywork that focuses specifically on the Lymphatic System (LS). The lymphatic system is found throughout our entire body and follows a specific flow pattern. Increased stress, illnesses, limited mobility and movement, and autoimmune issues can affect the LS. There are also areas in our body that I like to think of as processing stations. Some of the most familiar processing stations are in our armpits and behind our knees.
Any injury or trauma can disrupt our natural lymphatic flow and affect the processing stations. If there's a problem with a station, the lymphatic fluid needs additional support to find a new route to the next best station.
While the heart is the pump for our circulatory system, the lymphatic system requires body movement and muscle contractions to "pump" our lymphatic fluid, which is why MLD can improve outcomes.

When to consider an MLD session
MLD can be supportive for almost everybody. Some frequent reasons people receive MLD sessions are:
- Chronic fatigue
- Fibromyalgia
- Headaches
- Allergies and sinus congestion
- Digestion support
- Edema and swelling
- Inflammation support
- Post-operative recovery support
- Arthritis
- Sleep support
- Stress reduction
How often should I receive MLD?
How often a person receives MLD sessions greatly depends on why they are receiving MLD. Let's connect and make a plan tailored to your needs.
What to expect
For your session we will ask you to undress to your comfort level. You will be covered with linens for the entire session. Draping will be used to expose only the area of the body that is being worked on. Once the massage has been completed on that area, the lined will be replaced to keep you covered and warm. If you prefer to stay clothed, please wear light and comfortable clothing like yoga or athletic clothing.
